Finally, at long last, the TDP boss has recognised the services of senior MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary. Butchaiah has been made a member of the party's key politburo. This is the first time in around 37 years that Butchaiah has been given this key post.
Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary has been with the TDP since its inception and played a key role in formulating the policies for years. He is a six-time MLA and was even a minister in the NTR cabinet. But, in the internal party power struggle he stayed with NTR and refused to side with Chandrababu faction. Though he joined Chandrababu later, he was never forgiven. Chandrababu continued to ignore him. He merely remained as an MLA.
Now with the party out of power and several leaders leaving the party, Chandrababu is left with little option but to bank upon Chowdary, who is known to be a good organiser and a fierce defender of party policies. His entry into the politburo is a huge consolation for him.
