Russia has been struggling to tackle the Coronavirus outbreak. To see that the situation in the nation comes under control, Russia has approved a third coronavirus vaccine for domestic use.

As one more problem to Russia, the first bird flu transmission was detected in Russia. The researchers have dubbed transmission as the world's first human transmission.

Russia's health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, confirmed the same in a televised interview. Scientists have detected bird flu virus in seven workers at the Vektor laboratory.

However, it is said that none of the infected workers developed any serious health issues. The workers were infected with the bird flu virus from a poultry farm reportedly.

Anna Popova said that the transmitted virus has been identified as (H5N8) and the human transmission has been informed to the global health agency World Health Organization(WHO).

The bird flu causing strain H5N8 is usually found in birds which is highly contagious. However, there are no records of human transmission of H5N8 so far globally.

Talking about the virus mutations, she said that this is a wake-up call for the world to be prepared for the possible mutations. Only time can say whether the virus will spread to humans further, she said.

WHO said that the infected Russian workers were "asymptomatic" of the virus and no further human-to-human transmission was detected. A(H5N1), A(H7N9), and A(H1N1) viruses can transmit to humans too.

The bird flu is raising many concerns and fears in India too. So far, Kerala, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and other states have reported bird flu.
