In a shocking incident, the ongoing pandemic has claimed the life of the Ex-Chief of the Indian Medical Association, Dr. KK Aggarwal. The Padma Shri awardee breathed his last on Monday night.

As per his family, the Cardiologist's health condition has been critical and he had been put on ventilator support at the Delhi facility of All India Institute Of Medical Sciences(AIIMS) for the past few days.

Confirming the sad news, his family members on Twitter said, Dr. Aggarwal died at 11: 30 PM on Monday, after battling the Covid virus. Mr. Aggarwal was 62 when he lost his life.

"It causes us immense pain to inform you that our dear Dr KK Aggarwal passed away at 11.30pm on May 17, 2021, in New Delhi, after a lengthy battle with Covid-19...," a statement uploaded on his Twitter handle reads.

"Even during the pandemic, he made constant efforts to educate the masses and was able to reach out to 100 million people through numerous videos and videos and educational programmes and saved countless lives. He wanted his life to be celebrated And not mourned," the statement added.

The noted cardiologist was honoured with Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award in 2010. Mr. Aggarwal was also the recipient of the Dr. DB Roy award, the award given in recognition of the outstanding service in the field of Socio-Medical Relief.
