High Court served notices to AP Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao and former MP Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad in connection with the statues of ANR, Dasari and Harikrishna unveiled in Visakha Beach Road against the norms.
Bronze Statues of the three Prominent Personalities were installed in the Beach Road overnight without obtaining permission from the Municipality or concerned Officials. Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad and Ponnada Mohan played a key role in this exercise.
Following which, Jana Sena Leader Bolisetty Satyanarayana moved a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the High Court complaining about the illegal status. High Court served the notices to Ganta, Yarlagadda and Poonam upon accepting the PIL. Citing the Supreme Court judgement, HC maintained that illegal status have been removed by the respective Governments.
Ganta Srinivasa Rao should have taken permission from the Municipal Officials before installing the statues. It's unacceptable if those who occupy influential positions in the government violate the norms.
