The suspense is finally over and the IPL finals were played on Monday. Despite rain impacting the play, the Chennai Super Kings emerged victorious and lifted the trophy. This is the fifth trophy for the team and it also equaled the record held by Mumbai Indians of winning the most number of trophies.

Ambati Rayudu who is playing for CSK announced his retirement across formats. He shared a note on social media in which he said that on the high note of winning the IPL trophy, he would like to announce his retirement. The Telugu player said that he feels honored to have played for India and represented the country.

Talking about his memories in IPL, Amabati Rayudu said that winning his first IPL trophy during his stint with Mumbai and winning trophies as a CSK player would go down as the best memories he said.

"It has been an emotional night that culminated in a special IPL win. On that high note, I would like to announce my retirement from all forms of Indian cricket. When I took up the cricket bat as a kid playing with the tennis ball at home, I didn't imagine the wonderful journey that would follow for three decades," Ambati Rayudu said in his note.

Ambati Rayudu has a good stint while representing India in ODIs and shorter format of the game. While representing India, Ambati Rayudu scored 1694 runs. He made his debut in 2013. Ambati Rayudu played a key role in India's middle order whenever he got the opportunity.

His career and India's performance in the 2019 World Cup would have been different if he was selected for the team. In the knockout match, India was knocked out of the tournament as the middle order could not hold its nerves. Vijay Shankar was picked over Ambati Rayudu. However, the selection did not give any fruitful outcome.

The then-selection committee led by chief selector MSK Prasad picked Vijay Shankar over Rayudu based on IPL performance. Later MSK Prasad said that he felt bad for Ambati Rayudu.
