In the 4th Ball of the final over, Ben Stokes hit the ball bowled by Trent Boult to deep mid-wicket and decided to complete the second run. When he attempted a dive to avoid getting run-out, The ball throw by Martin Guptill from the boundary line hit his bat and go deflected to the boundary. England received 4 runs as bonus when they really matter the most. It was unintentional from Stokes, but the damage has been done to the New Zealand as the match got tied.
After England was declared as the Winner of 2019 World Cup, Ben Stokes confessed he will be apologising to New Zealand Kane Williamson for the rest of his life for what has happened. 'It was written in the stars to happen for us,' he added.
