After the state got bifurcated, Telangana has been focusing on promoting its culture and the rich handloom sector it has. Though the state culture played a big role in the state bifurcation, the culture became popular after Telangana was carved out of the combined Andhra Pradesh. The TRS government is giving a special focus on celebrating Bonalu and Bathukamma festivals.

On the other hand, the Telangana handloom & textile industry has a rich history. Keeping this in mind the TRS government is showing interest in developing and promoting the sector. Earlier Sania Mirza and Samantha Ruth Prabhu were made the brand ambassador to promote the handlooms. However, the move did not make any change. Though Samantha appeared in handloom sarees at a few functions

When the celebrities could not do much, the IAS and IPS officers are promoting the handloom sector and are winning hearts. IAS officer from Telangana who is holding a key position posted a beautiful picture in a handloom saree and nominated a few other IAS and IPS officers to accept the challenge.

IAS officer and Chief Minister's Secretary Smita Sabharwal stepped in to do her part in promoting handloom. After posting a beautiful picture in a handloom saree, she nominated others to take part. Her initiative received a massive response and the female IAS and IPS officers promoted the handlooms by wearing sarees.

The posts made by the IAs and IPS officers created a good response and the netizens are talking about the handlooms and the variety the weaver dresses have to offer.

Netizens also say that the IAS and IPS officers are doing what the celebrities could not do in promoting the handloom sector. It is good to see that the bureaucrats are coming forward and doing their best in promoting the handloom sector and weavers.

Talking about the efforts made by the Telangana government in lending a helping hand to the handloom, the government recently announced insurance for the sector so that the weavers would get financial assistance. Besides this, the family members of the weavers would get n amount of Rs 5 lakh if any weaver passes away.
