The Men In Blue led by Hitman Rohit Sharma started the ODI series against blackcaps New Zealand on a high note by winning the first match of the three-match series. The Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad hosted a highly intense match. India won the match with a margin of 12 runs.

Despite putting up a massive score on the board, team India has to work hard to win the match. But the happiness of winning the first ODI did not last long as the international governing body of cricket International Cricket Council(ICC) shocked the cricket team by imposing a fine.

Holding the Indian team responsible for having a slow over rate, the ICC slapped the team with a hefty fine. 60 percent of the match fee has been penalised for a slow rate. The Indian team had three overs delayed than the scheduled time.

Hitman Rohit Sharma said he is pleading guilty. The match referees and umpires imposed the penalty. The ICC quoted 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players while penalizing the team.

"In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined 20 per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time," ICC said.

Shubman Gill became the star of the match with his incredible double century. His heroics put India in a comfortable position. New Zealand fought hard and came close to reaching the target thanks to Michael Bracewell. Luck shined on India’s side and we won the match with 12 runs.
