India, which has been maintaining an average of nearly 40,000 Coronavirus infections daily, for some weeks saw a sharp rise in new infections as over 44,000 cases were reported in 24 hours.

In the span of 24 hours, India registered as many as 44,376 new cases, which pushes the country's Covid-19 caseload to 92,22,217, Union Health Ministry's data said.

The Country's recovery rate increased further to 93.7 percent, as a total of 86,42,771 patients have been recovered from the virus so far. This includes 37,816 new recoveries registered in 24 hours. The active cases stood at 4,44,746.

Looking at the Covid-19 tests, ICMR's data said, in the past 24 hours 11,59,032 tests were conducted, while as of now a total of 13,48,41,307 tests have been conducted.

India's mortality rate stood at 1.5 percent. Including 481 fresh casualties reported in the past 24, the total casualties related to Covid-19 in the country mounted to 1,34,218

Telangana's Covid-19 caseload rose to 2,66,042 after 993 fresh infections were reported in the past 24 hours. While 2,53,715 patients have been recovered so far, the active Covid-19 cases stood at 10,886.

The global count of Covid-29 infections rose to 60,077,383. In a piece of good news, a total of 41,510,093 patients have been recovered so far, while 1,413,713 patients have succumbed to the virus.
