India straightaway reported more than 20,000 infections for the 5th consecutive day with 22,252 fresh infections reported in the past 24 days. With this, the total cases in the country zoomed to 7,19,665.

On the other hand, the total fatalities in the country mounted to 20,160, with 467 fresh casualties reported across the states in the past 24 hours.

On a brighter note, so far 4,39,947 patients managed to recover from the virus and got discharged from the hospitals accordingly, with a recovery rate of more than 61%. In 24 hours, more than 15,500 patients recovered from the virus. There are 2,59,557 active cases in India.

The other day, India surpassed Russia and became the third worst-hit nation in the world due to the ongoing pandemic, only next to the US and Brazil.

Maharashtra(2,06,619 cases and 8,822 fatalities), Tamil Nadu(1,14,978 infections and 1,571 fatalities) and Delhi(1,00,823 cases) continue to be the worst-affected states in India with the outbreak.

Telangana reported 1831 fresh cases and 11 casualties on Monday taking the toll of the total cases and fatalities to 25, 733, and 306 respectively. GHMC region turned out as the hotspot for the disease.

Fellow Telugu State AP reported the highest spike in a single day with 1,322 fresh infections on Monday and the total cases in the state zoomed to 20,019. So far 239 people succumbed to the virus.

Globally, the total infections surpassed 11.4 million, while more than 533,780 people lost their lives. The majority of the cases and fatalities were reported from the US.
