India reported the highest surge of the positive cases in the past 24 hours as 7,694 fresh cases were reported. This is the second time, the highest single-day cases were reported in India.

With this, the total toll of the cases in India stood at 173,763. On the other hand states like Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Haryana and Uttarakhand saw a huge rise in cases of the virus.

The total count of the fatalities in India stood at 4,971 with as much as 265 new fatalities were reported in the past 24 hours.

Talking about the active cases in India, the toll reached 86,422, while around 42% of patients recovered from the virus so far. The good news is that more than 10,000 patients recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours which is a record high so far.

Maharashtra continues to suffer from the virus as the toll of the cases in the state reached 62,228 while the state has around 50% fatalities.2,682 positive cases were reported in the state in the past 24 hours.

Tamil Nadu(20,246), Delhi(17,386), Gujarat(15,934) are the worst-affected states in India in terms of the positive cases followed by Maharashtra.

The total cases in Andhra Pradesh reached 2,874 while 60 people succumbed to the virus so far. 2037 patients were discharged from the hospitals' os far taking the toll of active cases to 777.

The cases in Telangana stood at 2,425 and 71 fatalities were reported in the state so far. As of now, 1,381 patients were discharged from the hospitals, while the active cases stood at 973.
