India Reports 19,148 Fresh Cases, Toll Surpasses 6 Lakh-Mark

The fresh infections of the ongoing pandemic continue to surge on a daily basis as India reported over 19,000 new cases and 434 fatalities in the past 24 hours. With this, the total infections and fatalities zoomed to 6,04,641 and 17,834 respectively.

The third worst-hit nation Russia currently has only 50,000 more cases of the infection compared to India. If India continues to report the cases at current speed, in a few days, Indian will emerge as the third worst-hit nation.

As per the data revealed by the Union Health Ministry, so far 3,59,859 patients managed to receiver from the virus with a recovery rate of 59.51%, while the active cases in the country stood at 2,26,947.

Maharashtra(1,80,298), Tamil Nadu(94,049), and National Capital Delhi(89,802) continue to be the worst affected states in the country due to the outbreak of the virus. These states account for around 70% of the total cases in the country.

Looking at the casualties in connection with the respiratory disease, Maharashtra(8,053), Delhi(2,803), Gujarat(1,867) and Tamil Nadu(1,264) top the list.

Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR) stated that as of July 1st, a mammoth 90.5 lakh samples have been tested and more than 2.2 lakh samples weres tested on Wednesday alone.

Johns Hopkins University said, globally the infections surpassed 1.05 crore-mark, while more than 5.15 lakh people breathed their last breath battling the fatal virus across the countries.
