The situation in India continues to ring danger bells with the spread of the virus as the country has been reporting the highest spike of cases every other day. India once again reported the highest spike of single-day cases.
In the past 24 hours, India reported 27,114 fresh infected taking the toll of the total infections in the country to 8,20,916. This marks the highest surge of cases in a single day so far.
As per the data released by the Union Health Ministry, 5,15,386 patients managed to recover from the virus, including 19,873fresh recoveries in 24 hours. The Active cases stood at 2,83,407.
Looking at the worst-hit states in the country, Maharashtra tops the list with 2,38,461 infections and 9,893 fatalities. The state has 95,943 active infections of the virus.
Tamil Nadu(1,30,261, cases and 1,829 fatalities) and National Capital Delhi(1,09,140 cases and 3,300 fatalities) turned out as the second and third worst-hit states followed by Maharashtra.
On the other hand, Maharashtra(9893), Delhi(3300), Gujarat(2022), Tamil Nadu(1829) and Uttar Pradesh(889) reported the more number of fatalities in connection with the virus.
Worldwide, the total cases zoomed to more than 1.2 crore while more than 5,50,000 people succumbed to the dreaded virus. The US continues to be the worst-hit nation with over 3 million cases followed by Brazil and India.
