India, the second worst-affected country with Coronavirus outbreak globally added over 97,000 fresh infections in a single day, and the total infections surpassed 51 lakh-mark

The data released by the Union Health Ministry said that 97,894 people were found infected with the respiratory disease in the last 24 hours and the total infections zoomed to 51,18,253.

The difference between India which has over 51 lakh pandemic infections and the United States with nearly 66 lakh infections is only 15 lakhs. If India continues to report over 90k cases within a few weeks, India might become the top worst-hit nation.

Despite the rapid growth in fresh infections, an increase in recovering cases is favoring India. For the first time, the recovered cases in India quadrupled that the count of active cases.

The recovered cases and active cases in India reached 40,25,079 and 10,09,976 respectively.

On the other hand, total fatalities in India pass surged 80,000-mark with 83,198 casualties. In the last 24 hours, 1,132 patients breathed their last battling the disease.

India witnessed the peak of the virus outbreak in August. On the 7th of August, India surpassed the 20-lakh mark and 30 lakh and 40 lakh-mark on August 23rd and September 5th respectively.

In less than two weeks, India added more than 10 lakhs, and on the 16th of September total infections surpassed the 50 lakh-mark.

In the last 24 hours, Andhra Pradesh added as many as 8,835 infections taking the toll of the total cases in the state to 5,92,760. So far, 5,105 people have succumbed to the virus.

Telangana added 2,159 fresh cases in the past 24 hours. With this, the total infections zoomed to 1,65,003. Telangana reported 1005 casualties so far.

According to the data collected by the Johns Hopkins University, the Coronavirus left around 3 crore people infected with the virus, while over 9.23 lakh lost their lives to the virus so far.
