Indian cricketer loses sister to Covid, weeks after mother passes away

The second wave of the highly contagious Covid-19 is creating havoc across the country, Several families were devastated by losing their loved ones to respiratory disease. From normal people to celebrities, no one is spared by the disease.
As a heart-wrenching incident, tragedy hit the family of Veda Krishnamurthy, the middle-order batter of Indian national women's cricket team. Veda lost her sister to Covid, weeks after her mother passed away with Covid-19.
The woman cricketer's elder sister Vatsala Krishnamurthy breathed her last on Thursday evening in Chikmagalur city of Karnataka with Covid-19 related complications. Sadly, two weeks earlier, her mother had also passed away with Covid-19.
Taking to Twitter, the young cricketer said, her family and herself were severely racked with the fact that they had to bid goodbye to her sister Vatsala. She thanked everyone for the messages and prayers.
"It is with great sadness that last night my family had to say goodbye to My Akka My family, my world has been rocked to its core. Appreciate all the messages and prayers. My thoughts with everyone going through these devastating times. Hold your loved ones tight and stay safe," Veda tweeted.
Veda's sister played a vital role in shaping her cricketing career. Seeing the interest her sister has towards cricket, Vatsala joined Veda at the Karnataka Institute of Cricket in Shivaji Nagar. Veda groomed her skills there and made it to the national team eventually.
The middle-order batter received a call into the national team in 2011. Since then she represented Indian in 48 ODIs, 76 T20Is. She was a member of the women's squad that locked horns with England in the final match of the 2017 Women's World Cup. Despite losing the match, women cricket got recognition since then.
