Hours before a crucial match against defending champions Mumbai Indians, Dinesh Karthik surprised everyone by handing over Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) captainship to Eoin Morgan.
England's limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan, under whose captainship, England won its maiden ICC Cricket World Cup will lead KKR for the rest of the IPL season.
Looks like this decision did not go well with former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan and Indian cricket commentator and former cricketer Aakash Chopra.
The duo questioned the need for change in team captainship. Irfan Pathan and Aakash Chopra expressed their concerns over Dinesh Karthik handing over his captaincy to Eoin Morgan.
"Mid season change in Captaincy is never a comfortable situation for the team members. Hope KKR doesn't go astray from here. They are very much in the race for the playoffs!" Pathan's Tweet read.
Dinesh Karthik decided to leave the captaincy to focus more on his batting performance and contribute to his team.
The shocking decision from the Wicketkeeper-batsman came in the wake of severe criticism he has been facing over the changes in the franchise batting lineup.
