Iron Lady Now Set To Become A Mother

Remember Irom Sharmila Chanu? Does that name ring a bell? Yes, she was called the iron lady of Manipur. She protested the police atrocities and stopped taking solid food way back in 2000. She had also not seen her face in the mirror since then and did not comb her hair. She had to be force fed liquid diet through a pipe in her nose. Irom Sharmila became an international celebrity for her 16-year-long protest. Thousands came to her and took her interviews. All major newspapers in the world have featured her on their front pages.

Three years ago, she suddenly called off her protest and got married to a British youth called Desmond. The Manipuris strongly protected her decision to call of the struggle. But, she was as adamant as she was during the protest. She married Desmond, who was many years younger to her. Desmond is now an Indian citizen and the couple is now living in Bengaluru. Irom Sharmila did not have any contact with Manipur after she got just 160 votes in the last Manipur elections. The latest news from her is that she is pregnant and is now fully resting.

This revolutionary lady’s life has turned a full circle. She is now not even interested in what is happening in Manipur. She also hates those who want selfies with her. She is turning them away from her home. Her only concern in the world is her to be born baby.
