YS Jagan's sudden tour of Delhi has raised eyebrows in Andhra Pradesh. The political pundits are breaking their heads over the reason for his sudden visit to Delhi to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Though ostensibly the tour was meant to invite Prime Minister for the launch of Kadapa steel plant works, there seems to be more than meets the eye in the meeting.
MPs Vijay Sai Reddy and Mithun Reddy met Amit Shah on Thursday to seek Shah's appointment and Shah met Jagan only after 10.30. He is likely to meet Modi on Friday. Sources say the real reason for Jagan's visit is not Kadapa steel plant. It could be that he wants to pre-empt Pawan and Chandrababu's plans to get closer to the NDA and Modi. Jagan, who has always been friendly with Modi-Shah, wants to ensure that his primacy continues and that enough indications are sent about his relation with the NDA. This has become necessary especially after Pawan's pro-BJP statement the other day.
Also, sources say that Jagan cannot continue his welfare schemes in the absence of support from the Centre and has met the BJP biggies seeking their cooperation. Jagan had in fact preponed his visit to Delhi and met Amit Shah. It is also likely that he is planning to join hands with the BjP in nailing the Congress and the TDP, which are alleged to have got Rs 170 crore from a businessman in contravention of law during the election time. The contours of Jagan's visit would be out after he and Modi meet on Friday.
