Jagan to inaugurate Godavari-Krishna Interlinking works

Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy has taken steps to solve the water problems of the people living in Krishna and Penna basins by using the Godavari Flood waters. Jagan will lay the foundation rock on December 26 for the interlinking of Godavari-Krishna- and Penna rivers. He has ordered the authorities to prepare comprehensive project reports and estimates, and complete the tender process. CM has decided to complete the interlinking process with jet speed.
YSR Congress party has been regularly accusing TDP that for the sake of commissions have neglected the WAPCOS report given on the Godavari-Penna interlinking and spent 6,020 crores on the first phase of interlinking of Godavari-Penna of sending water to the right canal of Nagarjuna Sagar, which was supposed to send to Chintalapudi Ettipotala basin. CM Jagan has decided to cancel the previous works based on the expert’s reports, which says that the works were done with the approval of the environment and Hydrological departments. The CM directed the officials of the Water Resources Department to direct the Godavari floodwaters to the Krishna and Penna basins at least four TMCs per day and complete the interlinking of three rivers.
As the DPR which was made with Rs 8.59 crores during the reign of the previous government is not comprehensive, the Water Resources department chief secretary Adityanath Das has ordered the WAPSCOS to submit a comprehensive report according to the latest considerations on the Godavari-Krishna-Penna interlinking with the previously paid bills. He has ordered them to submit the DPR by the end of October.
Based on this, it has been decided to complete the Estimates and Administrative Permits by November 15. Tenders will be called immediately and the process will be completed by December 15 and the works will be handed over to contractors.
