KTR refuses to allow media into review meetings

Is the ruling TRS worried about the negative publicity that it is getting in the media these days? Is the party beginning to feel the heat of media questions at press conferences? Otherwise, why would TRS working president and municipal administration minister KTR order the media out of the review meeting of the functioning of various municipalities?

The incident occurred on Friday when KTR held a review meeting with municipal chairpersons and mayors of the municipal corporations. As the media was trying to click pictures, he asked them to leave the premises. He told the staff not to allow the media persons in future. This has shocked the mediapersons, who left the venue murmuring.

The ruling TRS has initially stopped sending its spokespersons to the TV panel debates. Instead of regular politicians, pro-TRS mediapersons were deployed to defend the TRS. However, that did not work. So, finally, they allowed leaders to represent the party in the TV debates. But, in case of print media and electronic media news coverage, the party said that the details of the meeting would be sent to the mediapersons through Whatsapp.

Political watchers say that the TRS leaders are feeling uncomfortable of late answering questions about Dalit Bandhu, Rythu Bandhu and the two-bedroom houses. There are also questions about the recent reversals that the TRS faced in the elections. As a result, the party leadership appears to have taken a decision not to entertain the media in review meetings and other such programmes.
