The Police department of Andhra Pradesh has made a big breakthrough in the much-talked-about explosion at the Kadapa quarry that was reported earlier last week which left 10 workers dead.

As a big development in the case, YS Pratap Reddy, who is said to be a kin of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was arrested and produced before the Court accordingly.

Pratap Reddy reportedly takes care of the mining operations of the Kadapa quarry where the explosion took place. The explosion took place when the workers of the quarry were drilling holes to place explosive materials in them.

District Superintendent of Police, Anburajan addressed the media over the explosion case and spoke about the arrests made. YS Pratap Reddy was arrested in connection with the charges leveled against him for transporting explosive material and not following safety measures, SP said.

Tracking back the incident, the explosion took place on Saturday at the quarry. While the workers at the quarry were unloading gelatin sticks from a vehicle. The gelatin sticks took the cops to Pratap Reddy as part of their investigation.

As part of the investigation, the cops have found out that Pratap Reddy has a mining quarry based out of neighboring areas of Pulivendula, Lingala, and Simhadripuram. Reddy also has required permissions to use explosives for mining uses.

Taking forward the investigation, the cops have arrested Nageswar Reddy, who takes care of limestone quarry operations, and Raghunatha Reddy, an employee of the quarry on Monday.

After the explosion, Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, the State Minister for Mines and Geology said, the government called for a detailed inquiry into the case and the Kadapa district Joint Collector (Revenue) will lead the committee, he said.
