DMK Chief M Karunanidhi holds the record of contesting Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu for the 13th time. The 5-time CM remained undefeated since he contested the first election in 1957.

The 93-Year-Old will file his nomination for contesting upcoming Assembly polls from Tiruvarur Assembly segment on April 25th. He would kickstart his election campaign from April 23rd and take part in over 30 rallies before the polling date. He would be addressing the people either from his specially designed campaign vehicle or from the dais.

In 1962, Karunanidhi contested election from Thanjavur. He, however, choose constituencies in Chennai thereafter. In 2011, He opted for Tiruvarur.

DMK is contesting 2016 Assembly polls forming a pre-poll alliance with Congress. Pre-poll Surveys predicted AIADMK led by Jayalalithaa have every chance of retaining power again.
