The Delhi government is taking a very serious view of the Tableegh-e-Jamaat religious conference held at the Markaz masjid in the Nizamuddin area of Delhi. Delhi state health minister said that as many as 24 of those who have participated in the Tableegh have been shown to be Corona positive. He said the masjid has since been seized and locked.

The Delhi government suspects that over 1700 people may have attended the meet at the Masjid. It has categorically said that no permission was ever taken by the leaders of the Muslim radical organization. As many as 800 persons, who attended the meet have been put under quarantine and several others are under quarantine in various states. He said such religious congregations at the time of Corona crisis was unpardonable. He said the organization has seriously jeopardised public health.

Delhi CM Aravind Kejriwal and deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia have held a high-level meet and are reviewing the situation. They expressed anger at the authorities for not preventing the congregation at the Markaz Masjid. The meeting went on for three days. Yet the officials took no action against it, they said. This irresponsible religious meeting has only helped in the spread of Corona and is responsible for the toll in several states.
