Killi Kruparani shattered on not being given Rajya Sabha ticket

One person whose dreams of becoming a Rajya Sabha MP has been shattered is former union minister and well-educated politician Killi Krupa Rani. Though widely expected to get a party ticket, she failed to get a nomination in the end. Much to her shock, the names of Telangana BC leader R Krishnaiah and Hyderabad-based lawyer Niranjan Reddy figured in the list.

Killi Kruparani joined politics at the behest of late YSR in 2004. She joined the YSRCP ahead of the 2019 elections. Though she was not given a party ticket to contest for the MLA seat, she was content with the Srikakulam district YSRCP president's post. But, even that post was taken away during the recent cabinet rejig. Former minister Dharmana Krishna Das was made the district president.

There were rumours that Jagan has assured Kruparani and her husband that she would be made a Rajya Sabha member. Kruparani was quite confident that she would get the party ticket. But, she was dropped from the list at the last moment, say sources. Kruparani is from the dominant Kalinga community and is considered quite a strong candidate.

Sources close to YS Jagan say that Jagan is planning to give party ticket to her to contest from Srikakulam MP seat in the 2024 elections. He reportedly wants her to take on TDP heavyweight Kinjarapu Yerram Naidu in the next Lok Sabha elections. As of now, it's both shock and disappointment for Kruparani.
