Kodali Nani on demand to name Vijayawada after Vangeveeti

The Andhra Pradesh government made many heads turn with the decision to add more districts and take the total number of districts in the state to 26. The decision is receiving mixed responses from everyone. Out of all the districts one district has caught up in a controversy.
The temple city Vijayawada was made the new district and Vijayawada will be the headquarters. Vijayawada was named after Legendary Tollywood actor and former Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao aka NTR. Nandamuri fans and TDP sympathisers are welcoming the decision.
However few Kapu leaders objected to the decision to name Vijayawada after NTR and demanded that it should be named after another prominent leader Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga.
They have been demanding the Andhra Pradesh government to consider their request and rename the Vijayawada district. The likes of Vangaveeti Narendra have placed the demand before the government.
Amid growing demand Andhra Pradesh Minister for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Kodali Nani had responded to the issue and said that CM Jagan had fulfilled the promise he made before the general elections to make districts based on the Parliament constituencies.
Talking about the demand Kodali Nani said that the decision was taken after discussing various aspects and giving a lot of thought. CM Jagan might have felt that naming Vijayawada district after NTR Garu would be appropriate Nani said.
Kodali Nani said that there will be a chance for making changes in the district names and said that those who have any objections or suggestions over the district names should take the same to the notice of the government and the government will look into the matter.
The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet Minister also assured that the government will look into the objections and will address the issue. The government will not go ahead batting a blind eye towards the objections he said.
The other day Cinematography Minister Perni Nani had backed the decision to name Vijayawada after NTR given the impact he can create on the Telugu states. Having said that the Minister accused TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu of trying to politicise the issue and appealed to him to not restrict NTR to a region or caste.
