Legislative Council Secretary Sends Back Bills to Chairman

The infamous Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council row which has passed through many interesting twists and turns has once again found itself in the headlines with the Legislature Secretary returning the file for constituting a select committee to look into three capital bills.

Quite interestingly this the second time Legislative Secretary P. Balakrishnamacharyulu sent back the file to Council Chairman M.A. Shariff.

Secretary said that the panel cannot be constituted as the Council did not follow proper procedures while referring the two bills to the select committee.

When Council Chairman M.A.Shariff referred the bills to the select committee the ruling YSRCP said that Chairman referring the bills to the committee cannot be considered valid as they were not formed within 14 days.

However, the AP government has passed a resolution to recommend to the Centre to abolish the Legislative Council.

The opposition TDP which has taken the Anmaravati issue as prestigious is searching for ways to stop the three capitals issue reportedly. TDP is meeting law experts to stop the row at any cost.

The TDP is saying that if Council Chairman sends the bills its the decision of the Upper House and the Secretary doesn't have the power to send them back and this act should be considered as a violation of the rights of the house.
