Lord Ganesha appears to be fuelling a battle for supremacy between two local biggies from Hyderabad. These two are strong leaders and have rivaled one another for years. Though both are in the same party now, they still continue to be at loggerheads. These differences have come to the fore once again thanks to the Ganesha of Khairatabad.
The committee of Ganesha mandap in Khairatabad was told to reduce the height of the deity this time in view of the Covid scare. The police suggested that the idol's size be kept at 3 feet. Not satisfied with this diktat, the committee members approached minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, who convinced them to have an idol of 4 feet size. Meanwhile, local MLA and former minister Danam Nagender intervened and raised the height to 9 feet. He is also said to have taken strong objection to Talasani's interference in his constituency. He is said to have lodged a strong protest over Talasani poking his nose into the affairs in his constituency.
Meanwhile, the committee is going ahead with 9 feet tall Ganesha and preliminary poojas have already been performed. Khairatabad Ganesha is the cynosure of all eyes in Hyderabad and is a major draw for the devotees during the Ganesha festival.
