Tension gripped the Etigadda Kistapur region in Telangana after the cops arrested BJP Dubbaka MLA Raghunandan Rao near the Mallannasagar irrigation project when he tried to enter the village, reports claimed.
Going into details, the Telangana wing of Bharatiya Janata Party called for a tour to Mallannasagar after the locals reportedly claimed that construction is being done in the region without giving them compensation.
Raghunandan Rao's convoy was stopped by the cops near the Etigadda Kishtapur village. The MLA found fault with the cops for stopping his vehicle and had a war of words with them. After a brief confrontation, the cops arrested him.
The MLA spoke to the media after the cops took him into preventive custody. It is shocking to arrest me en route to meet the victims. Authorities are causing problems for them, but the MP and Collector are not worried about the victims, he said.
Rao alleged that the government is batting a blind eye towards the victims and said he would meet the farmers and locals of the village in a couple of days to know their problems.
When the TS Government announced the Mallannasagar reservoir the locals and villagers of several villages from where the government acquired over 20,000 acres of land for the project.
