The decades-long friendship between Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party came to an end after the 2019 polls. When BJP Chief Minister in Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis needed the MLAs' support, Shiv Sena took a back step and the BJP government collapsed. Shiv Sena joined hands with NCP and Congress and formed the government.

Now BJP used the same idea and supported the rebel MLAs and the Bharatiya Janata Party is all set to add another state to the list of states ruled by it. Political experts are seeing the ongoing political crisis in Maharashtra as a major win for the saffron party.

However, the change in power in the state is only a moral win for the BJP as it taught a lesson to Shiv Sena. The saffron party cannot record a complete win as Bharatiya Janata Party cannot get the Chief Minister post this time too.

Former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who was the front runner for the Chief Minister post surprised everyone by proposing rebel leader Eknath Shinde as the new Chief Minister, who is expected to take charge as the leader of the state today.

In both instances, BJP could not get the Chief Minister post. This time, BJP will hold the power in the Maratha land without its leaders in the key post. BJP had the last laugh in its fight with Shiv Sena, but it lost the Chief Minister post.
