Major American motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson which is popular among the premium segment bike owners decided to exit India given the prevailing situations.

Harley-Davidson has decided to shut down the manufacturing unit in Bawal along with the scaling down the office sales size in Gurgaon under 'The Rewire' strategy, to fight the financial burden.

However, the company said that, is it making plans intending to serve the Indian customers and any further update on this will be shared with the customers.

To see that the company serves Indian customers even after leaving the country, the dealer network of Harley-Davidson will continue to operate. The service will be the contact term.

Despite enjoying a huge fandom the bike has a very less percent of Indian customers. The percent of Indian customers merely translate to 5 percent of the global sales of the company.

The ongoing pandemic, which entered India in March has hit the bike maker so hard that the company sales came down drastically. Between April-June, only 100 bikes were sold in India. Last year, as many as 2,500 bikes were sold out.

This will put an end to a decade-long association with Indian customers. The company entered into the Indian market back in 2009. Since then, the bike maker has been serving Indian customers.
