A massive fire broke out at an Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) gas plant in Gujarat during the early hours of Saturday. ONGC confirmed the fire accident.
The fire mishap was reported at the ONGC plant based out of Hazira in Surat city of Gujarat. Three blasts took place in two terminals of the gas processing plant followed by a massive fire.
The fire was so massive that people from a distance could see the fire. Some locals said that the blasting sound at the gas unit was heard around 10 km far from the unit.
The concerned authorities swung into action and called the fire tenders to get the situation under control. The fire was brought under control and no casualties and injures were reported, ONGC said.
As a precautionary measure, all the terminals have been shut and by afternoon the gas processing unit is expected to be partially operational in two to three hours
