The island country New Zealand is all set to host the much-awaited 50 Over World Cup edition of 2022. Starting from the fourth of March, the prestigious event would be played till the 3rd of April. Ahead of the tournament, the cricket governing body in India had announced the squad that would represent India.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) had announced the 15-member squad with veteran player Mithali Raj as the skipper. Another sensation Harmanpreet Kaur has been picked as the Vice-Captain for the team for the World Cup event.

The selectors have not selected players who were not in form and the batters and all-rounders who could not put up an impressive show have been excluded from the team and only the players who impressed with the impressive performance were given a call into the final squad.

The squad which will play the ODI World Cup tournament will also lock horns with the blackcaps New Zealand for a series. After the prestigious tournament gets over, the Indian squad will play the series against New Zealand.

On the grounds of the unimpressive performance, the likes of Jemimah Rodrigues and all-rounder Shikha Pandey have not been given a place in the final squad.

Players like Smriti Mandhana, Jhulan Goswami, Shafali Verma, and Sneh Rana were included in the final squad who will represent India in the World Cup.

Team India under the captaincy of Mithali Raj will start the journey in the World Cup against Pakistan. India's first match will start on the 6th of March followed by March 10(New Zealand), March 12(West Indies), March 16(England), March 19(Australia), March 22(Bangladesh), and March 27(South Africa).
