Indian Government disqualified few NGO'S from getting foreign funding by revoking their licences. Government took such a step against popular NGO'S like Jamia Milia Islamia and Oxfam.

More than 179 organisations belonging to Mother Terese foundation charities also lost the license to get foreign funding.

Home Ministry claimed that the organisations did not comply to the rules of the Foreign Contributions Act. The organisations in the question have expressed their disappointment over the decision of the Central Government.

The officials stood firmly on their ground stating that the government has no agendas and if the organisations re-apply complying to the rules and regulations, they will reconsider their decision.

Several observers stated that Government has taken this decision in order to get back at these NGO'S and exact revenge. Some expressed disappointment as this decision harms progress of humanitarian work.

Supporters of Government though welcomed the decision and said regulations in FRCA are needed and NGO'S should not be easy targets for money laundering going forward.
