Why Mudragada Padmanabham Used Soft Tone on Konaseema Violence?

Former Minister Mudragada Padmanabham shot to super fame with his fight for the reservations for the Kapus in the state. He stays in the news whenever he talks about the alleged injustice thrown at Kapus and the sensational letters he writes on various developments. However, he is now active in politics these days.

After a long gap, Mudragada Padmanabham hit the headlines with his new letter. After around two months of the much-talked-about violence in Konaseema erupting, Mudragada Padmanabham addressed the issue. Talking about the issue, the former state Cabinet Minister said that he is happy with the Konaseema district getting named after the father of the Indian Constitution Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

What caught everyone's attention in Mudragada's letter is that the Ex-Minister welcomed the decision to name the district after Ambedkar and also maintained that GMC Balayogi, who served as the first's Dalit Speaker of Lok Sabha should have been getting the honor as he hails from the same region.

Having said that, he stressed the point that after GMC Balayogi became the Lok Sabha Speaker, the Konaseema region started seeing good development and no one can deny this fact.

On the flip side, Mudragada Padmanabham who is known for speaking his heart out and using strong words in his letter as he did in reacting to Telugu Desam Party chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu's alleged humiliation in the Assembly has changed his tone and he tried to be as calm as possible in the letter.

No one understands what made the former Cabinet Minister go calm and easy against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on this. He could have used strong words if he wanted. A few political experts say that to get a strong image in the Dalit community, Ambedkar's name was kept for the district. Mudragada would have highlighted the same, but he did not.

Though Ambedkar and GMC Balayogi hail from the same community, a section of locals wanted the Konaseema region to be named after the former Lok Sabha speaker due to the close connection. After he became the Lok Sabha speaker, people outside the Telugu land started talking about the region.

But the region getting named after BR Ambedkar did not go well with many and a few communities protested against the decision which led to big violence. A few houses including a legislator's house were burnt in the Konaseema region after the government announced that the region would be named after Ambedkar.
