A woman application faced an unpleasant experience with an officer in the Consulate General of India in New York while applying for the visa which made many heads turn. The video that shows the officer behaving in a rude manner went viral on social media. On the grounds of the viral video, the officials served him notice reportedly.

The incident was reported when a woman who applied for a visa after her father passed away faced rude behavior from the concerned official. Despite producing all the required documents, her visa was not approved. Going by the video, the officer told the lady to take her money and go from here.

Not happy with the officer's behavior, the woman filmed the video. However, she could not take the entire video from the Consulate as an official asked the woman to not record the video as no one was supposed to use the mobile camera inside the Consulate.

The video got wide publicity after noted talk show host Simi Garewal shared the video on her Twitter handle. Saying that the woman was at the Consulate to apply for a Visa to go to India after her father died. The officer behaved obnoxiously. In her tweet, she tagged Minister of External Affairs of India S. Jaishankar, Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, and urged them to look into the matter.

"On 24/11/2021. Indian embassy New York. Her father had died & she wanted a visa for India. This is the obnoxious behavior of an Indian officer in the New York Consulate towards her. @DrSJaishankar @MEAIndia @PMOIndia you can't ignore this," Simi Garewal tweeted.

The netizens widely shared the video and opined that the video made it to social media and several other such incidents are going unnoticed that needs to be looked into.

Reacting to the incident, the Consulate General of India, New York stated that disciplinary proceedings were issued against the concerned officer and the matter will be reviewed by the Consulate General. The complaint has been taken note of by the Consulate General. It is against the norms of the consulate, the statement reads.
