New Update In The Nirbhaya Case

The Nirbhaya case which shocked the entire nation has reached the final level. After the incident took place, a new act came into existence, the 'Nirbhaya Act'. Under this act, men who stare at women continuously can be booked for sexual offenses.
The act was named after the girl, Nirbhaya, who lost her life in a sexual attack. The attack was very brutal. The entire nation participated in the Candle march, mourning her death.
It has been reported that the Tihar Jail administration has sent a notice to the four convicts in the Hooryfing Nirbhaya gangrape case and asked them to apply for the mercy plea with the President within seven days.
'Jail administration seeks to inform that all the legal proceedings regarding the case against you (convicts) have been completed. However, the only option remaining in your defence is 'mercy petition'.Hence, the jail administration seeks to inform you that if you have not filed your 'mercy petition' before the President, you may do so within seven days of receiving this notice,' read the notice.
'If not, then it will be deemed that you do not wish to do so and the administration will begin further proceedings regarding your sentence,' said the notice.
Meanwhile, the mother Nirbhaya said: 'I welcome the move. I hope that after seven years, my daughter will get justice. It will be the biggest message to people who are involved in crime against women.'
The Director-General of the Tihar Jail said that three of the four convicts are in Tihar Jail, while the other one is in the Mandoli Jail. The entire process of reading out the notices in Hindi and English to the convicts was video graphed.
'After getting the notices, the convicts became restless. Following the procedure, the Tihar administration will inform the trial court, which has awarded the death penalty to the convicts, about the development,' added the officer
