As a sudden twist in the AP Local Body election issue, the High Court suspended the election schedule issued by state election commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar on Monday.
The development turned out as a huge blow for Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner (SEC) Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar, who is very firm on his decisions on poll commencement.
Now it is said that Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar met Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan today to discuss various issues pertaining to the local body elections.
The SEC is said to have met the Governor at 11;30 AM and reportedly expressed his dissatisfaction with the Andhra Pradesh government for reportedly directing the employees to not support SEC.
Counsel for SEC requested that an urgent hearing be held on this House Motion Petition. Taking this into consideration, the court said it would hold a hearing. It is in this context that Nimmagadda will meet the Governor today.
On the other hand, a Counsel who represents the SEC has moved the Divison Bench challenging the orders issued by the Single Judge Bench to suspend the election schedule of the Panchayat elections.
It is said that the Bench will hear the petition will today afternoon. The SEC meeting Governor amid this backdrop has now raised many speculations.
