While announcing Union Budget 2020-21, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that, under the Udan(Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik) regional connectivity scheme, India will be getting 100 more airports by 2024.

With this, the airlines compete for winning subsidies for operating flights that link the small airports with the big airports. At present, the Airports Authority of India (AAI), which is run by the start is managing the 125 airports in India, including 11 international airports.

The Finance Minister has also announced that a separate Krishi UDAN scheme will be launched that will improve connectivity with the northeast region of the country.
