Talking about the economic slowdown in the country, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has expressed his deep concern.

He said that "in his ministry, there are around cases of Rs 89,000" and he has given strict orders to all the concerned officers regarding the economic situation in the country.

"I called senior officials at my home and told them there are cases of around Rs 89,000 crore. I will not tell you what to do. I will only tell you the economy of the country is going through a challenging situation. There is a shortage of liquidity and you have to take decisions quickly," Mr. Gadkari said

Gadkari's comments come in the wake of severe criticism faced by the Centre in several issues like inflation, economic slowdown, unemployment, unemployment and the most controversial National Register of Citizens(NRC) and Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA).

It is estimated that the current Indian economy size is USD 2.7 trillion. Meanwhile, the Centre said that it is making efforts to ensure that India becomes a USD 5 trillion economy by 2025.

Surprisingly, PM Narendra Modi said that the idea to make India a USD 5 trillion economy is not a sudden plan and added that India has strengthened itself over the last five years to achieve the goals.

"Talks on USD 5 trillion dollar economy haven't come all of a sudden. Our country has strengthened itself so much in the last five years that we can aim to achieve such goals," PM said.

"Every group that can enable the economy is keeping the target of USD 5 trillion economy at the centre of its plans and talks are happening in several sectors. These discussions are positive. Credit for every achieved target goes to the people and not to the government," Modi added.
