Nagarjunasagar is going to polls amid corona scare and rising score of positive cases. The polling would be held on Saturday from 7 am to 7 pm in 346 designated polling centres. As many as 2.20 lakh voters will exercise their franchise on Saturday.

With Covid cases rising, the authorities would provide gloves to every voter who comes to vote. The voters are expected to press the button wearing these gloves. Similarly, only those with masks would be allowed into the polling centres. No one without a mask would be allowed into the centres. Since, the voters had recently voted for panchayat and graduate elections, the indelible ink mark would be put on the middle finger, according to the polling officials. All arrangements are made in view of the Covid scare, they said.

The bypoll has assumed importance as it is coming soon after the Graduate MLC elections and would be followed by the civic body polls for several municipalities. If Congress party wins the election it will help revive the Party. A TRS victory at this stage, will leave the Opposition demoralized. Hence the main parties are pitting all their resources in the bypoll.
