Don't Know Whether To Say 'Yes' Or 'No'

Ever since it joined hands with the Congress and the NCP, the Shiv Sena is facing serious ideological crises. It is being repeatedly forced by its allies to abandon its core ideology and do the complete opposite. The latest pin prick is from an organisation titled" CAA, NRC Virodhi Chhatra Parishad. This organisation has the backing of the Congress and the Left. This is also supported by the Dalit organisations. The organisation is holding a protest against the CAA and the invitation had the image of Shiv Sena leader and Minister Aaditya Thackeray as one of the guests. The list of guests included lyricist Javed Akhtar, anti-Hindutwa leader Umar Khalid and Naxal backer Rama Naga. The event is being held in Mumbai.
When this invite was publicised, there was shock and consternation among the supporters of the Shiv Sena. This is the complete opposite of Shiv Sena's stand. So, the party is in a fix. So, Aaditya Thackeray took the path of least resistance when he clarified through a communication which said: "There is no confirmation by Aaditya Thackeray to attend the event organized by CAA, NRC Virodhi Chhatra Parishad." It also added thus: "For any of his (Aaditya Thackeray's) schedules and event attendance, Shiv Sena's official communication team should be contacted."
Interestingly, Aaditya did not deny that he would not attend the protest meet. At the same time, he did not even confirm. This shows the confusion in the Shiv Sena. It can neither give a firm No for an answer, nor can it accept the invitation.
