Onions are hitting the headlines recently for all the wrong reasons. The price of onions has reached the Rs 200 mark in many states pushing some states to provide onions at a subsidiary price.
It has been widely reported that the onion consumers can get relief as the Centre has decided to look into this issue. The crisis of onions came soon after the Centre imposed a ban on onion imports. The government has slightly loosened the ban. With this, almost 17,090 tons of onions will be imported from Turkey and Egypt reportedly.
While the price of onions was between Rs 65-80 last week which was reduced to Rs 50-75 now. The official said the rate decrease is a result of the imports from other countries.
