Prime Minister Narendra Modi stepped on Leh on Friday, who was accompanied by Army Chief Gen MM Naravane and Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat. This marks Modi's first visit to the union territory after the violent standoff with China.

PM Modi made an interaction with the troops there, which is cited as a morale booster to the army troops. With this move, Modi also gave a powerful message to China for its aggressive behavior.

Its a surprise visit as no one knew that PM will visit Leh. The Army troops were only informed of Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat's visit to discuss the de-escalation process at the stand-off points along teh border.

Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Y K Joshi and XIV Corps Commander Lt Gen Harinder Singh briefed the situations at the headquarters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The fierce standoff with the Chinese troops on June 15 in the Galwan Valley in Eastern Ladakh resulted in 20 soldiers losing their lives in the hands of Chinese troops.
