The Union budget for 2020-21 will be presented on February 1 on Saturday. In 2015-2016 the Union Budget is presented on Saturday and after that, it will be the first time to present the budget on Saturday.

Modi government in its first term preponed the budget date, from last working day to first working day. The Union budget for 2017-18 is presented on February 1 since then the tradition continues.

The budget session will be held in two phases from January 31 to April 3. The first phase will be from January 31 to February 11 and the second phase will be from March 2nd to April 3. There will be a month-long gap between the two phases and allow the committee to examine the budget allocations made by various ministers.

This time the budget seems to be more interesting, the countries GDP hit more than six-year low of 4.5 percent in the third quarter. The government has a target of 5trillian economy by 2024.
