People arrested, opposition leaders detained

The Amaravati farmers and people were arrested on Monday, many opposition leaders were detained or placed under house arrest. Tension prevailed as people took on streets to demand that Amaravati be the only capital.
People and farmers of Tullur village tried to march towards the assembly in the response of the 'Chalo Assembly' program. Former TDP MLA Narendra Jumar Chowdary has been arrested by the police, he was on a bike rally, the rally started from Ponnur and reached Tullur. While he was trying to go towards the assembly, he was arrested by the police, he was later taken to a nearby police station.
Several TDP leaders were taken into custody. Police detained hundreds of TDP protests who were trying to march towards Assembly. Thousands of police deployed in Amaravati, Vijayawada and surrounding areas.
