On Monday, the JMM-led alliance had a decisive victory in Jharkhand as it won 47 seats, well ahead of the majority mark of 41 in the 81-seat assembly. Chief Minister Raghubar Das stepped down on Monday evening after conceding defeat.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday lashed out at the BJP following Jharkhand assembly election result saying people of the state have defeated BJP attempt to divide the society on caste and religious lines. The Congress interim chief also thanked people of Jharkhand for showing faith in JMM-Congress-RJD alliance.
Home Minister and BJP chief Amit Shah has said the party respects the defeat in Jharkhand assembly elections as the people's mandate and thanked the state.
The BJP has won 25 seats while the rival JMM-Congress alliance appears set to win a majority with over 40 seats in the 81-member state assembly.
