Pfizer, AstraZeneca effective in reducing SARS-CoV-2 Risk!

Clearing all the airs, a study that was published in The Lancet journal said that Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines offer good protection against the Delta variant that was detected in India.
The study was conducted by the Public Health England (PHE) after analyzing more than 19,000 cases of Covid infection. More than 300 of the subjects were admitted to the hospital.
According to the research, Pfizer offers 79 percent of protection against the Delta variant after two vaccine doses, while it offers 93 percent of protection against the Alpha variant.
Coming to the other vaccine AstraZeneca, it offers 60 percent and 73 percent of protection against the Delta and Alpha variant of the virus respectively after taking two doses of vaccine.
Drawing a comparison between the two variants, the authors of the study said, compared to the Alpha variant, the risk among patients to get admitted to the hospital is around double the time in the Delta variant.
The authors said, both the vaccine doses offer good effectiveness in bringing down the virus along with the chances of getting admitted to the hospital.
