Photoshoots are common in the film industry and there are specialized photographers to shoot pictures of celebrities. But a photo shoot of an Indian actor became a huge sensation and the whole country is talking about it. People have mixed reactions to the much-talked-about photoshoot.
Bollywood star Ranveer Singh went nude for a photoshoot and he even shared the pictures on his social media accounts. This did not go well with many as they raised their objections to what the star has done.
A case has been filed against him by the Chembur Police in Maharashtra under multiple sections of the IPC. The police took the action based on the complaint lodged by one Vedika Chaubey, who serves as a lawyer and is based out of Mumbai. She alleged that the sentiments of women were hurt by the actions of Mr. Singh. It has to be mentioned here that, earlier an NGO also moved the Police station against the actor.
Talking about the complaint raised by the lawyer, a case was filed under section 292 (dealing with obscene materials falls within this exception thereby addressing the issue of public decency and morality), 293 (obscene objects to young person), and 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) including 67 (A) of the Information Technology act.
On the flipside, director Ram Gopal Varma supported Ranveer Singh and said that what the star did should be seen as gender equality. Having said that, the filmmaker also blasted people who show hypocrisy when male stars make such photoshoots.
