In a surprising incident, the Kadapa police arrested YS Konda Reddy, a member of the extended YS family. Konda Reddy is also incharge of the YSRCP for Chakrayapet mandal in Pulivendula assembly constituency. This means that he is quite close to chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. In fact, Reddy was with the YS Jagan's Padayatra ahead of 2019 elections.
Highly placed sources say that the arrest was made to show that the AP government was serious about protecting the law and order situation in the state. Sources also said that the arrest was made after the police got a nod from no less a person than chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy himself.
Sources say that Konda Reddy is known to collect his cuts from the contractors and builders in the area. Recently, he demanded money for a contractor undertaking highway works. The contracting firm belongs to a BJP leader from Karnataka. When Konda Reddy brought pressure on the contractor, the latter promptly approached YS Jagan. An angri Jagan reportedly directed the police to arrest Konda Reddy.
The police seized his phone and studied the call data. The call data details proved beyond any doubt that Konda Reddy had threatened the BJP leader from Karnataka. The arrest of Konda Reddy has become the hot topic of discussion in Pulivendula. Sources say that Jagan wanted to show that no one was above law and that the law will take its own course regardless of how well connected a person might be.
