Poor Shabbir Ali - Neither Here Nor There

Some politicians make costly mistakes and repent in leisure. Mohammad Shabbir Ali, the Muslim face of the Congress Party in Telangana is one such politician. His calculations and strategies, it appears, are going completely wrong.
For years, Shabbir Ali is known as a camp follower of Ghulam Nabi Azad at the national level and a supporter of Revanth Reddy at the state level. Using his closeness to Ghulam Nabi Azad, Shabbir Ali built support at the national level for Revanth. His calculation was that he would get a plum post if Revanth Reddy becomes the PCC chief. But things did not go the way Shabbir Ali planned.
In the last elections, he was swept away by the TRS wave and lost badly from Kamareddy. Secondly, his godfather at the national level, Ghulam Nabi Azad, has fallen out of favour with the Congress High Command. He is now out of the inner circle of the party. Ever since he called for organizational elections, he has been dumped by the high command. So, Shabbir Ali has lost his leverage at the national level.
To add to his woes, present PCC chief Uttam Reddy is targeting all those who are with Revanth Reddy. He is not sending invitations to key meetings and is barring approaches to higher level leaders. As a result, Shabbir Ali is rarely seen in Gandhi Bhavan these days. Not just he, but leaders like Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Manavata Roy are also facing similar problems in the PCC. They have been sidelined.
Unable to do anything worthwhile, Shabbir Ali these days is confined to his businesses in and around Kamareddy. He is busy with setting his business in order.
